Abiding In Him (John 15:4)
We are "dead indeed", but nowhere does scripture say that we are dead in ourselves.
We are dead not in ourselves but in Christ. We were crucified with Him because we were in Him.
"Abide in me, and I in you" (John 15:4).
Principle 1:
Do not to struggle to get into Christ. We were not told to get there, but to STAY there where we have been placed. It was God's own act that put us in Christ, and we are to abide in Him.
2nd Principle;
God has done the work in Christ and not in us as individuals.
The all-inclusive death and the all-inclusive resurrection of God's Son were accomplished fully and finally apart from us in the first place.
We were crucified "with Him"
We were quickened “with Him”
We were raised “with Him”
We were set by God in the heavenlies "in Him"
We are complete "in Him" (Rom. 6:6; Eph. 2:5,6; Col. 2:10).
· It is not just something that is still to be effected in us
· It is not something to work towards
In the Scriptures we find that no Christian experience exists as such, “Christian Experience”
What God has done in His gracious purpose is to include us in Christ.
In dealing with Christ God has dealt with the Christian per se
In dealing with the Head He has dealt with all the members (Body).
All the spiritual experience of the Christian is already true in Christ.
Christ has already experienced it.
What we call “our” experience is only our entering into, His history and His experience.
Jesus healing the man at the pool is entering into the history of “already seeing Father do it”. He said that he does nothing unless he first sees or hears Father do it.
The history and experience of Christ becomes our experience and our spiritual history; we do not have a separate history from His. Whatever good we will still do has already been done by Him.
The entire work regarding us is not done in us here but in Christ.
Eternal life is not given to us as individuals: the life is in the Son, and "he that hath the Son hath the life".
God has done all in His Son, and He has included us in Him; we are incorporated into Christ.
I love the Amplified translation teaching us to look away first. Away from our own effort, our past our future. To fix our gaze upon Jesus and in Him, our past, in Him, our present and in Him our future.
Heb 12:2 Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God. [Ps. 110:1.] Amp
